Play Therapy

World-renown play therapist Gary Landreth said, "Toys are children's words and play is their language." We are given a window into a child's world when we are able to speak this language. At Parent Like It Matters, our therapists have been trained to identify conflicts and problematic concerns through play.

Play therapy was created to use the language of play in a therapeutic way. Typically used for ages 3-12, play is often used over standard talk therapy in order to allow clients to better express themselves and resolve their problems in a way that is more comfortable for them. This can include imaginary play, game play, art therapy, sand tray therapy and so much more.

There are several forms of play therapy that are incorporated into our practice at Parent Like It Matters:

  • Child Centered Play Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy

  • Adlerian Play Therapy

  • Expressive Play Therapy (Art Therapy)

  • Sand Tray Therapy
