Childhood Anxiety & Depression

Unfortunately children are no strangers to anxiety and depression that was once thought to only impact adults. Due to the pandemic, the rate of diagnosed anxiety and depression in children has doubled in the last several years. Our children need us to help them take back control of their childhood now more than ever before!

 

Symptoms of Anxiety in Children

  • Being very afraid when away from parents or caregivers

  • Having extreme fear about a specific topic or situation

  • Being very worried about the future or about bad things happening

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Complaining about stomachaches or headaches

  • Trouble concentrating

  • Being very self conscious 

  • Tantrums, emotional outbursts

  • Avoiding social situations

  • Feeling tired most of the time

  • Anger, restlessness, or feeling on edge

Symptoms of Depression in Children

  • Feelings of sadness or hopelessness, tearfulness

  • Loss of enjoyment in activities that were previously enjoyable

  • Mood changes, irritability

  • Low energy levels or general fatigue

  • Changes in eating and/or sleeping habits

  • Behavioral problems at school

  • Low self esteem

  • Social isolation
