Kelly Knapp McCray
MA, LCMHCA
Hi! My name is Kelly Knapp McCray, MA, LCMHCA. I am passionate about helping children (ages 4+), teens, and parents build healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen relationships. I believe every child and caregiver deserves a safe and supportive space to process challenges, grow in confidence, and discover new ways to thrive. My goal is to create a warm, collaborative environment where healing can take place and families feel empowered.
I enjoy working with neurodivergent children, as well as supporting clients navigating anxiety, grief, and chronic illness. I also work closely with parents, offering strategies for positive parenting and stress management to help create more peaceful home environments.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I frequently incorporate mindfulness, play, art, and music into sessions to engage children and teens in creative, strengths-based ways. My focus includes emotional regulation, coping skill development, social skills, and family support.

I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. My professional experience includes work in nonprofit domestic violence centers, group practices, and private practices in Virginia, Florida, and North Carolina.

Meet Edison!

Edison is Kelly's friendly golden retriever with a heart as big as his smile—and a very important job as a therapy dog-in-training. Known for his gentle nature, steady presence, and love of connection, Edison works alongside Kelly to support both children and adults in the therapy space.

When clinically appropriate, Edison may join sessions to help reduce anxiety, offer grounding support, and bring a sense of calm and comfort to the room. For some clients, that looks like a quiet companion during tough conversations; for others, it’s a warm, reassuring presence that makes therapy feel a little more human (and a lot more welcoming).

Edison is learning right alongside our clients—how to slow down, stay present, and show up with kindness. We’re so excited to have him as part of our team and can’t wait for you to meet this gentle golden helper!
