Bree Johnson
MSW, LCSWA

Hi! I’m Bree Johnson, MSW, LCSWA. I am passionate about helping children, their parents, and their families connect and heal from current stressors and past experiences so that growth can happen together. I believe children thrive most when families feel supported, understood, and empowered.

I work with children ages 3-18, their parents, and their families to support them through a variety of challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, trauma, family conflict, and communication struggles. My goal is to help families break the cycle of trauma and build stronger relationships to promote healing in all aspects of life. Together, we’ll work to build resilience, restore connection, and create lasting change at home and beyond.

I specialize in supporting children who have been through traumatic experiences, as well as working with their parents and families to address the rippling effects traumatic experiences can have on the family and their relationships as a whole. I use a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, play therapy, attachment-based interventions, and structural and family systems, to provide each child and family with the interventions that are tailored specific to their needs. â€‹

I received my Bachelor of Arts in General Anthropology and Criminology from North Carolina State University in 2021 and my Master of Social Work from University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2023. I have experience working as a Family-Centered Treatment Therapist with Coastal Horizons Center, where I supported children in need of a higher level of care due to risk of out of home placement with reducing mental health symptoms and stabilizing their home environment.

We believe that therapy for children and proper support for their caregivers creates an environment for parenting to feel like it matters (because it really does).
