Hi! I'm MK Boone, MHS, LCMHCA, LRT. I am passionate about supporting children (ages 8+), teens, parents, and couples as they work through challenges, strengthen relationships, and build healthier communication patterns. I believe that every child and family deserves a safe, encouraging space to process emotions, discover strengths, and experience growth together. My goal is to create a collaborative and compassionate environment where each client feels supported and empowered.

I enjoy helping children and teens develop emotional regulation skills, supporting parents through the ups and downs of parenting, and walking alongside couples as they navigate relational challenges. I have a special interest in helping separated or divorced parents improve coparenting dynamics and create a more peaceful home environment. Upon request, I also provide Christian counseling.

I use an integrative approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). As a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and Licensed Recreation Therapist, I incorporate movement and physical activity into sessions to promote holistic healing. My focus areas include anxiety, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, family conflict, parenting support, and coparenting after separation or divorce (no high-conflict cases).​

I earned my Master of Health Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Catawba College. My background includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and children with disabilities and their families in a variety of settings. I first joined Parent Like It Matters as an intern from November 2023 to April 2024 and am thrilled to continue serving families in this role.
